OTM-400 40/43G VSR Transponder Module

The OTM-400 is a Very Short Reach (VSR) standards-compliant 40/43Gbps transponder module. The module provides a serial 40/43Gbps optical interface for interconnection over distances up to 2km over single mode fiber. The OTM-400 is fully standards-compliant with the OIF SFI-5 electrical interface requirements and with the ITU-T G.693 optical interface specification.

The OTM-400 is the next generation of 40G VSR module and offers industry-leading size, power consumption and cost. StrataLight Communications has offered this client optical interface as part of the OTS-4000 product family of 40Gbps DWDM sub-system transponders since 2004. With the growing market for 40Gbps and wide scale carrier adoption, StrataLight has decided to commercialize their client 40Gbps optical interface into a stand-alone 300 pin MSA module. Interoperability with core IP routers offering OC-768 has been extensively tested in many carrier laboratories and in live production networks. This interface has been generally available in the DWDM transponder since 2004 and has been widely deployed in the field.
